Delta Upsilon has four founding principles: Development of Character, Advancement of Justice, Promotion of Friendship, and Diffusion of Liberal Culture. These principles describe what we're all about at Delta Upsilon and what we are proud of.

Promotion of Friendship

Being part of Delta Upsilon is all about building and strengthening relationships inside and outside of the Fraternity. DUs participate in monthly brotherhoods, Spring & Fall Formal, Exchanges with sororities, Sweetheart Week, Initiation Week, and more.

Diffusion of Liberal Culture

Brothers at Delta Upsilon will get a chance to experience everything that is available at the University of Minnesota. We want you to open your mind and broaden your horizons to new ideas and differences. Whether it is competing at a sorority's sweetheart week, participating in the different events during homecoming and spring jam, or trying your hand at the culinary arts during a brotherhood, being a member of DU will give you experiences you can't get anywhere else.

Advancement of Justice

Delta Upsilon is a non-secret, non-hazing Fraternity. Anyone is welcome to learn about our principles, traditions, and rituals. We believe all members, from newest to oldest, are entitled to fair treatment and equal standing. New members are treated with respect and no degree of inferiority-- at DU, there is no need to "work your way up" or go through a hazing process as a new member. You don't have to worry about being forced to do anything against your will. We are proud to be different from other fraternities in having no secret rites, codes, or initiation processes.

Development of Character

Being a leader within a Fraternity is a great resume builder and develops skill you'll need in the workplace. Brotherhood at Delta Upsilon is no different. You will have the opportunity to make an impact in the Fraternity, the Greek Community, and the entire University of Minnesota campus. Members are invited to attend national leadership conventions held annually across the nation in Texas, St. Louis, and Orlando. Also important at DU are philanthropy events and our partnership with YouthLink. Members can participate in volunteer activities with the house, and DU will help open doors to other community service opportunities. At DU you will have the chance to grow with your brothers into a better man.

Finances

Being a member of Delta Upsilon gives you a unique opportunity to grow into a better man with your brothers, live through the unique life experience at Delta Upsilon, and participate in the Greek Community. Monthly dues also grant members liability insurance which covers any accidents. Living at DU is affordable compared to other options around campus, and provides members with an unforgettable experience to share with their brothers.
